"Nice Presentation- Cigar Just OK"

When I was a complete newb my go to were the Mac Cafe s, especially the Hampton. After I got a bit more experience I bought a box of 8 of these. Maybe it was the crystal? I think the crystal is a gimmick. Sealed in glass...why? I thought they would keep but by the time I got around to them they seemed awful dry to me. Whats the point of the tube if you need to crack them open and put them in a humidor? And they were packed so tight I could barely draw them. Nope. Too much $$ for what you get. 2 stars for the packaging.

Very mild vegetal flavor on the dry draw which is a bit tight for my liking . Very mild vegetal flavors continue upon lighting and into the first 2/3. Draw is too tight for my liking. I would not buy these again.

My first real cigar experience was a macanudo portofino, and since that day so many years ago, I have always kept s few Macs in my humidor. For me, they’re like going back home to something recognizable and comforting. This one comes in a glass tube, which in theory delivers the cigar perfectly aged and humidified, ready to smoke right out of the packaging. As I understand, it is the same blend as the Hyde park, one of the best selling blends on the market. The presentation of this cigar is gorgeous. There is an awesome feeling to removing a cigar from a glass tube. It almost feels as if you are unearthing something precious. It’s a good feeling. The cigar smells great pre draw. It begins with that strong cedar flavor I’ve come to expect from natural Macs. I found the early third of the cigar after the initial light to be very bitter. Not like espresso, just bitter. But if you stick with a Mac, it will deliver what it promises. They are one of the most consistent cigars out there. After the first third of the cigar I get a great woody complexity, which is what keeps me coming to macanudo. The bitterness dies away and it becomes pleasant and smooth. The flavor of these I find to me much more intense than the Hyde Park, which is probably a good thing if you find Macs in general to be too mild, but like the flavor overall. I’d rate this as medium in flavor, with a great burn and smoke output throughout.
