"Budget Padron"
Surprise delight! This stick punches well above it’s weight. I got the box pressed toro in an Oliva 10-cigar special giveaway special when buying a box of 135th anniversary Serie V. These are supposed to be second-class cigars relegated to the golf course or dog walking class of cigars. They aren’t the stick you typically choose for enjoying after a cooking a NY strip steak dinner for the family or for after hosting a large holiday party at your home and most guests have gone to bed. The price suggests this stick is meant to be forgetful. Trust me, it is not! This cigar deserves your full attention. It would be a very good cigar at a $10-$15 price tag but the budget price kicks this thing into rare earth metal status. How is this not a cult favorite rare find??? … Think Padron 1964 with teeth. This cigar has beautiful aged tobacco undertones that you find immediately upon light up. It’s such a distinct flavor you can match it to the best Padron 1964 immediately. However, it’s also clear from the slight pepper in the back of the throat that this cigar isn’t totally made up of well-aged tobacco. That’s ok. It actually gives some specific characteristics of full body mixed with those amazing funky flavors of aged tobacco that you don’t find anywhere else. This is an absolute treat. I noticed a slight transition in the second third from the super aged flavors typical from the most expensive aged tobacco to a mixture of dark roast coffee, deep dark cocoa, and a finish of spicy white pepper creeping all the way back to the very back of the tongue. Deep in the final third I found another transition back to the forward funky cocoa-espresso flavor typical from the most well aged Padron 1964, but still finishing with a spicy pepper deep in the pallet that lingers for a long, long time. I sat for at least 3-4 minutes between a couple draws and still noticed the pepper lingering mid-pallet.
The construction was very good throughout. Draw was light, producing a thick, chewy smoke but only after 2-3 puffs. Burn got a little off-center in the second third but corrected itself in the final third with no help from my torch. It held an ash for roughy an entire third each time. Total smoke time was 1 hour 15 minutes on the box pressed toro but I was moving slow because I was so impressed and surprised. Highly recommend.

"Not bad for a sampler"
I found the Oliva 10 cigar bonus sampler to be a decent set of casual smokes and appreciated getting them with my recent order. Most of the Oliva products are fairly mild and easy to enjoy, burn reasonably well and provide a nice, relaxing moment in my busy afternoon. Thanks for including these with my order Famous Smoke- really appreciated!
